Multi-GRAMMY Award winner Aymée Nuviola delivered a memorable performance at the historic SummerStage in Central Park as part of the celebration of the centennial of the birth of Celia Cruz, the eternal « Queen of Salsa. »
The event, titled « Celia Vive, » brought together a constellation of Cuban talents who paid tribute to the Latin music legend. Aymée Nuviola was joined by Isaac Delgado, Brenda Navarrete and her batá drummers, Melvis Santa, Alain Pérez, and Lena Burke, for an evening filled with emotion, rhythm, and cultural legacy.
Aymée Nuviola, who played Celia Cruz in the hit television series « Celia, » connected with the audience through a performance that fused vocal elegance, stage presence, and profound reverence for Celia Cruz. Her performance was met with applause and praise from the audience, reaffirming her place as one of the most representative voices of contemporary Cuban music.
The concert, under the musical direction of tres player Nelson González, was held on the last stage Celia Cruz graced in New York, becoming a symbolic moment of closing the cycle and renewing her legacy.
This tribute is part of a series of events that will take place leading up to October 21, 2025, the 100th anniversary of Celia Cruz’s birth.
